Acceptable Use Policies
femme.cat Tos and AUP
Femme.cat maintains a several Acceptable use policies for it’s site and various services. Before requesting or utilizing access to any of these services, please consult the relevant use policy. Violations of policies will result in immediate banning and/or blocking.

soc.femme.cat is a smallish Fediverse Akkoma instance for trans, non-binary, and femme folk who are feminists, and ne’er-do-wells. Registrations are open, but must be approved by moderators. To register, please fill out the registration form and your reason for wanting to join the instance. For faster review, please submit a link to any current profiles or history.
Specific Terms of Service:
- Posts dealing with sensitive topics (pol, violence, etc) should be CW tagged
- Sexually explicit or violent media must be CW tagged and marked as sensitive when posting
- No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, ableism, or any other form of bigotry.
- No terfism or ‘gender critical’ posting
- Sexist or racial bio-essentialist rhetoric is unacceptable.
- This is an ACAB instance
- No incitement of violence or promotion of violent ideologies
- No harassment, dogpiling, doxxing or otherwise abusive behavior.
- No illegal content
- Do not share intentionally false or misleading information
- No advertising
- Use of GenAI is limited to humor or parody
matrix.femme.cat [2]
matrix.femme.cat is a matrix chat server operated for queer and trans users, rooms, and topics. The goal is host secure a distributed communications platform for queer topics and users to foster connections and information sharing while maintaining user privacy and control of their own data.
matrix.femme.cat is a fully federated matrix server available on the standard matrix port tcp/443, with cross server communications occurring on tcp/8448. The server supports all modern matrix clients and is available through the femme.cat hosted element interface.
Home server accounts are available upon request by contacting admins at matrixops@femme.cat.
Spaces and Rooms [a]
matrix.femme.cat hosts a number of rooms and a specific space for administrated rooms. Users may create other shared or private rooms within the space (or on the server); however, they remain subject to thr Use of Service, and Content Restrictions of the server. User created rooms should try to abide by the spirit of the server’s intent.
All offical rooms belong to the femme-cat space which are publicly available. While some rooms are directly publicly available, others are only available through space membership.
Public Rooms include:
- Support and Requests where users may request a homeserver account, request moderation, support, or membership to private rooms.
- DIYHRT where users can share and obtain information about HRT through the experience and knowledge of others.
Space Rooms Include:
- Introductions as a place where users can introduce themselves to one another and make connections.
- LGBTQ where Lesbian,Gay, Trans, and Queer people can discuss issues related to the community, including, politics and adult themes.
Note: In all cases graphic sexual and violent content should only be posted if relevant to the discussion at hand. Sensitive content, or potentially triggering content (such as talk of self-harm, violence, etc) must utilize the /spoiler tag - or equivalent. Graphic sexual posting or imagery should be confined to the relevant rooms or private chats.
Conduct and Prohibited Content [b]
Engage with others in good faith (especially in weighty topics )
- Try to understand others’ points of view and don’t just attack those you disagree with.
- Disagreements happen, but try not to escalate the situation and increase hostility.
- If someone wants to disengage from a conversation, let them.
- If someone is espousing truly harmful views or refuses to engage in good faith, contact the moderators to deal with them.
- Make sure a person consents to receiving a DM from you, either by seeing that they have an equivalent of “DMs open” in their avatar/name or by asking them directly in a public room.
- Be respectful/apologize/give space as necessary if someone tells you, or implies through their actions, that you crossed a boundary, as best as you understand.
- Keep discussion topical to the room it’s in and migrate elsewhere if needed.
Prohibited Content
- Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, ableism, or any other form of bigotry.
- Terfism or ‘gender critical’ unless used as parody or exemplifier.
- Sexist or racial bio-essentialist rhetoric is unacceptable.
- Incitement of violence or promotion of violent ideologies.
- Harassment, stalking, dogpiling, doxxing or otherwise abusive behavior.
- No illegal content, as defined in the US and NL.
- Intentionally false or misleading information.
- Any advertising though confirmed resource sharing is encouraged.
- Overly combative or otherwise disruptive behavior.
- Inviting bots into rooms without the consent of the moderators.
General Use of Service [3]
You agree that you shall not:
- Use or attempt to gain unauthorized access to or use another’s account, password, data, or computer systems or networks connected to the matrix.femme.cat server, whether through malicious attacks, password mining or any other means.
- Access or attempt to access any material that you are not authorized to access.
- Disrupt or interfere with the security of, or otherwise cause harm to, the femme.cat matrix server, systems resources, accounts, passwords, servers or networks connected to or accessible through the Service or any affiliated or linked sites.
- Use the Service to transmit unsolicited or bulk communications to anyone at all, be they users of the Service, federated Matrix servers, or connected on a bridged network.
- Disrupt, interfere with or inhibit any other user from using and enjoying the Service. Access or use the Service in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden or impair any server we run or the network(s) connected to the Service.
- Violate prohibited codes of conduct or post prohibited content.
Encryption
The Service may allow you to encrypt your communications end-to-end between devices. There may be restrictions and limitations on the import, possession, use, transfer and/or export of strong encryption technology under the laws of the country in which you intend to use the Service. It is your sole obligation and responsibility to check such restrictions and limitations before using the Service and to comply with them. We reserve the right to suspend the Service immediately and without notice if we determine, in our sole judgment, that the Service is being used in violation of local regulations governing the use of cryptographic technologies (even though we have no responsibility to make such determination).

The Service may include links that will take you to other sites outside of the Service. The linked sites are provided as a convenience and the inclusion of the links do not imply any endorsement by us of any linked site.
